There will be a meeting on September 13, 2010 at 6:00pm at the Borough Hall to discuss the continuation of the 4th of July committee. Anyone interested in helping with the fundraising and being on the committee please make every effort to attend this meeting. If we do not get enough volunteers then the committee will most likely disband and there will be no more fireworks or 4th of July parades in Glenolden.
The Citizens 4th of July Committee has become part of the fabric of this community. It is with regret that due to the lack of funds and participation of volunteers, this 100 year tradition is being cancelled.
The 4th of July parade and celebration will not occur this year and will remain cancelled until volunteers and fundraising efforts resume. Also falling by the wayside are the fireworks that were ususally scheduled in June as there is not enough funds to keep this endeavor going.
A special thanks to the men, women and children that spent hundreds of hours over the last years making sure that our community was blessed with the celebration of this special day.
If you are interested in preserving this tradition and volunteering a few hours through the year or on a more involved level, please check back at this site for the date of a special last meeting of the Citizens Fourth of July Committee.
